The movie Gandhigiri is a story of transformation. When the harsh realities of life get you down, it’s easy to feel like you can never make a difference. But this is not true. After witnessing the violence in his community, Vijay starts to question his career choice and entertains dreams of becoming an entrepreneur instead. He works hard for what he wants but soon realizes that money cannot buy happiness when he tragically loses his brother in a terrorist attack. In order to heal from this loss, he resolves to help his country by becoming a Gandhian activist campaigning against corruption in politics and conflicts in society at large through peaceful protest and non-violent civil disobedience. In the process, he transforms from a self-centered young man to someone who understands the needs of others. In this way, Vijay learns to ‘hang loose’ and find happiness through his service to others. The message that "Service is Service" is a noble cause defines the film. The message that "Action is Resistance" makes it a very meaningful film which instigates you to stand up for your beliefs and do something about it despite the resistance you might face from certain quarters. The Gandhian view of non-violence as well as the idea of constructive dialogue with those holding opposing views are central themes in this movie. The hope is to make people think and act for the good of all. The story is based on real-life incidents in India, including the civil disobedience of Chandrashekhar Azad, the formation of Satyagraha, and the Salt March led by Mahatma Gandhi. The Gandhian concept of constructive dialogue with opponents is also evident in Gandhigiri. The entire film is shot in a single take by director Krishnakanth under International Film Festival of India (IFFI) grant. The film was shot in record time to be presented at IFFI 2015. At IFFI 2016 it won the Special Jury Award for Editing & Cinematography. Gandhigiri won the Special Jury award at IFFI 2016 for editing and cinematography. It was also nominated in the following categories for National Film Awards in India, 2015: Best Feature Film in Hindi, Best Actor (Vijay), Best Supporting Actor for Aditya Makan, Best Make-up/Hairstylist (Shanthi Thirumavalavan), Special Jury Award, whereas it was awarded the Golden Bull at the Golden Bell Festival 2016 in Bangal. The film is being telecast internationally by Bharti Airtel in 180 countries Abroad. This movie has an interesting story to tell. But unfortunately all what is written is so much less than the reality. The outstanding performance of all the actors and actress is worth seeing. This movie tells about non violence and service to the people. It tells about rights, responsibilities and duties towards each other. The messages that I got out of this movie are: 1) Our society needs good people who would serve to change wrong things happening in our society; we need people who would love everyone; we need people who would take social responsibility and work for it; 2) Though Gandhigiri is a true story, it has all ingredients of a good entertainer as well as an inspiring tale for everyone to think about what is required from us as individuals from our family from our society from our government from those in power, etc. cfa1e77820
